Biollante is one of the most popular Godzilla monsters, and truthfully one of the most well developed as well. She also happens to have the best roar outside of Godzilla. :)

Dr. Shiragami was kidnapped by the [fictional] Middle-Eastern nation of Saradia. The super-scientist was forced to work on stolen G-Cells(Godzilla DNA, known for its mutative and regenerative properties) and genetically enhance them with plantlife, to create plants that can grow in the desert. During his time there the building he worked in went under terrorist attack, with an explosion killing his only daughter Erica.

Shiragami, the incredible scientist that he is, was able to keep his daughter's spirit alive through splicing her genetic material into that of a rose. However, when the rose started to die 5 years later, Shiragami grew desperate. He used G-Cells he had kept to prolong Erica's lifespan. The result caused the rose plant to grow to massive size, until it was too large to live in his house and made for the nearby lake.

Godzilla had just been released from his volcanic prison by Saradian terrorists, and rampaged across the countryside, eventually coming to Shiragami's valley residence. The giant rose plant, dubbed Biollante, defended her territory, but was no match for Godzilla's radiation blasts, which had an adverse effect on her genetic makeup. Soon bursting to flames, Biollante's body broke down into spores that floated up into the sky.

Later, Godzilla will have been infected with a supervirus by the military, but its effects could not occur unless Godzilla's body heated up greater than normal, his adrenaline shot up to cause his blood to spread the virus faster. The military attempted to do this, but to no avail. When all hope seemed lost for Japan, Biollante's spores fell down from the heavens and reformed into a plant-like monstrosity twice her original size, and bearing far more resemblance to Godzilla. Despite her new monstrous appearance, however, Erica's spirit still lived on in the creature. Biollante fought Godzilla to a vicious standstill by the shores of Japan, protecting those around her from the King of Monsters. The fight was enough for Godzilla's adrenaline to pump the virus throughout his body. Weakened, Godzilla retreated back into the waves, but not without dealing a mortal blow to Biollante, blasting through her mouth and core. Unable to retain her form, Biollante dissolved into spores once more, reforming in orbit over Earth as a giant rosebud, where she remains to this day.

Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
